Loved it when a show started off with a jammed out Stranger. Links to recommended ones are welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Can't link it anymore, but the one from 'Go to Nassau' to open the 2nd set is tasty (perhaps my best-sounding commercial release from gdm...).

Starts a second set...the Jerry envelope filter combined with an octave just boils my brain...gritty '82 version.

I can honestly say, I don't know the tune...ahem, "strangers".

Think it's for the best?

seriously, i don't think you're missing much, and sure there were some worthy versions, but in the end, it was but dreck; as for the wordsmith's reply to the noble ducats, very worthy indeed...

Didn't Cliffy go to that show? The Stranger/Franklin's is cool (love Jer's staccato strumming on Franklin's). Oddly enough, I'm drawn to the Sailor/Saint->He's Gone more than the rest of the show.

thanks for the link. No songs I don't recognize. Strange I thought their new album is coming out in fall. You'd think at least one of the tunes would be in rotation by now

yeah! Also "crazy Tour" hampton '89 & my personal favor of Hampton '88, 3-28 http://www.archive.org/details/gd1988-03-28.sbd.miller.91233.sbeok.flac16
to sum it up:
Hampton = killer Stranger
& As Cliff said
Late-set-I Strangers are worth it, too here're two: http://www.archive.org/details/gd1980-04-28.fob.glassberg.motb.0040.88858.sbeok.flac16

A nice Stranger opener.
TLEO and Cassidy are my favorite versions of each.
This show is full of songs.

Not a show opener, but a decent rendition nonetheless if this is your kind of thing. Please excuse the audience recording...

The 10-15-83 is such a feel good opener. If only some of that show could have been bonus material for the previous night's DP show.

Edit:
http://www.archive.org/details/gd1983-10-15.fob.senn441.silberman.miller.93751.sbeok.flac16

Though I prefer SBD, I like the full effect of this Charlie Miller AUD better than the SBD version. The SBD is too antiseptic for my tastes.
